South Leigh Survey, March 3rd - 18th, 2012

Apart from the questions referring to age groups for which respondents noted each person resident, only one tick was used to answer other questions. Therefore, numbers collated for any one activity are preferences per household. Therefore the number could be multiplied by a factor of 2 or more. The figures are, however, very encouraging and show overwhelming support for the Village, the Hall and its supporting Committee.

133 surveys were distributed. 121 could be expected to be returned as 12 properties were unoccupied or residents away. 93 were returned making a return of 77%. Not everyone answered every question.

Summary (figures are per household)
  • Some houses in the Parish are distant to the village and some people said they did not feel that the survey was relevant to them. Others, however, expressed an interest to become involved.
  • All respondents, where appropriate, liked living in the village and all but 2 would like to continue doing so; these 2 being uncertain.
  • 296 responses for existing hall activities (Some come to more than one activity).
  • 317 responses supporting future/new activities (this is on top of the current activity figures).
  • Suggestions for additional activities above the ones listed in the survey:
  • Book club, youth club, singing group / choir, jumble sales, bring and buy, bingo and whist.
  • 10 extra households volunteered to help or organise new activities in the hall.
  • 61 responses supported the refurbishment of the existing hall, 2 preferring a new building.
  • 40 responses indicated they would make more use of a refurbished hall with 6 possibles and 1 negative.
  • 74 responses indicated they would use the refurbished hall for family celebrations etc.
  • 22 responded positively to e mail communication.
