South Leigh WI meets in the village hall on the third Thursday of the month at 2.30pm in the winter and 7.30pm in the summer.

We are a happy, friendly group and visitors are always welcome. If you hear about something at one of our meetings which interests you, just turn up. The WI's interests are many and varied.

Members have enjoyed listening to speakers on the 'Trials & Tribulations of a Church Warden' and the 'Curiosities of the Cotswolds' in recent months. In June we held our annual garden party and celebrated 30 years of this WI. It was a lovely, warm, sunny evening and some of us sat on the patio with our meal and wine. We were entertained by Eynsham Ukuleles who played and sang popular songs and we all joined in. In the interval we cut the celebration cake and sang “Happy Birthday to Us”.

The national annual meeting was held in Cardiff this year and Liz went to represent four local WIs and vote on their behalf on this year’s resolution which was about mental health.

In July, Christine Walker is coming to tell us all about being a peace monitor in Palestine. Do join us - we welcome visitors. We will meet in the village hall on Thursday 19th July at 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you.

This year’s
Flower & Produce Show will be on Saturday, 1st September. The weather hasn’t been very kind this season but keep talking to your flowers, fruit & vegetables & I’m sure they will respond. The schedule can be found here.

Please encourage the children to take part. If they are unable to bring their entries on the day I will accept them sooner -
children only. I’m sure there are more gentlemen in the village who could make some flapjack. Come on gents - give it a go, the two Johns need some competition!

Would last year’s cup & trophy winners please return them to me at Lymbourne, Chapel Road, preferably polished.

Finally, if a few strong men are available on Friday evening, 31st August at about 7:00pm, we would appreciate some help setting up the tables. Thank you.
